Keeping Food Safe from Virus Contamination during COVID-19

There is not yet any evidence that COVID-19 can spread through contact with food or food packaging. COVID-19 is generally considered to be spread from person to person. However, it is always important to practice good hygiene when handling food to prevent food-borne diseases.

Here are five WHO keys to safer food:

  1. Keep clean
  2. Separating raw and cooked ingredients
  3. Cook until cooked
  4. Store food at a safe temperature
  5. Use boiled water
